Parent Updates

Operation Encompass

Our school has been given the opportunity to take part in a new operation that will run jointly with Bedfordshire Police and Luton Children’s Social Care.

Operation Encompass has been designed to provide early reporting to schools of any domestic abuse incidents that occur in which a child was present, ordinarily resides at the incident location or with an involved party. We know that children can be significantly affected through witnessing or being exposed to domestic abuse and this operation will allow us to better support our pupils and their families.  This has now been expanded to include missing children/young persons as detailed in the correspondence below.

A nominated member of staff, known as a Single Point of Contact (SPOC), will be identified to receive the information. At Stopsley High School our SPOC is our Senior Deputy Headteacher, Mrs P Whiting. She will be able to use information that has been shared with her, in confidence, to ensure that the right support is available should it be required by a child.

We are keen to offer the best support available to our pupils and we believe this is going to be extremely beneficial for all those involved.

County Lines

County Lines is a phrase that is cropping up more and more on our TV news programmes. You might know a little about it – maybe you are aware that it is linked to drug dealing and crime. If you click on the link below you will be taken to the London Grid for Learning where you can view a collection of short but helpful videos from Peter Wilson, who has recently retired from the Metropolitan Police and is one of the leading experts in this field.

Social Media Factsheets:

Using the internet and social media is an important part of life for children. It can be a positive opportunity to learn, to connect with friends and family, and to have fun. However, Internet use can also expose children to dangers, such as cyberbullying, online grooming, and sexual abuse. The parent factsheets below are intended to provide parents and carers with an overview of the common platforms children use, the potential risks and how to support your child in navigating the platforms safely:
