The Physical Activity, Sport and Well Being Department at Stopsley High School encourages students to begin the first steps towards a lifetime of being active and healthy. The department is a fundamental aspect of school life, students are offered a rich and engaging curriculum delivered through a wide variety of activities. The department strive to inspire all students to succeed and excel, while developing their physical confidence in physical activity and sport so that they may adopt a healthy active lifestyle.
The department follows the national curriculum for physical education aims to ensure that all pupils are able to;
Develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities
Are physically active for sustained periods of time
Engage in competitive sports and activities
Lead healthy, active lives.
The department is working towards obtaining Outstanding Department accreditation and has identified four core strands to achieve this.

As part of the department’s commitment to SMSC at Stopsley High School a number of residential and non-residential trips are run during the year. These include a skiing trip to Austria at Easter, GCSE trips to Caldecotte Xperience Outdoor Education Centre to participate in Climbing and Kayaking. As well as non-residential trips to sports venues and fixtures.
