Parent and Carers

The opportunities and pathways available to your child today are likely to be very different to what was available to you when you were at school, which can make it difficult with knowing how to support them with their aspirations or where to look for information and advice related to careers. Parental guidance and influence plays a huge role in students decision making and so it is vital that you have information about the CEIAG they are able to access. Please take some time to have a look at our careers programme and our entitlement statement which outlines what students and parents can expect to receive during their time at Stopsley High School. We hope you find the additional resources included here useful:

In 2015, Raising the Participation (RPA) came into place which states that young people leaving school will need to continue in education or training until their 18th birthday. This can include:

  • Studying full-time at a sixth form, college or with a training provider

  • Gaining an apprenticeship or traineeship

  • Working or volunteering full time combined with part-time education or training (for 20 hours or more a week

To find out more about the options available, please click here for college/sixth form open days or here for information on apprenticeships..

We regularly promote the careers activities we have going on in school which can be found here on our website, in our newsletter and on our twitter page.
